    Christmas presents in the cloud

    1 December 2011

Christmas is around the corner. This year we have decided to use the capabilities afforded to us by being a SaaS provider to deliver something truly special to our customers:

New improvements to the e-conomic system – released and delivered every day from December 1 to December 24!

    Christmas presentsDaily releases

Starting today, a new feature will be made available to our customers on a daily basis.

When you go to the e-conomic login page, you will see an explanation of today’s new feature, with links to further information in our e-copedia.

After you have logged on to the e-conomic system, the new feature will be automatically available for you to use.

Think about it – updates to the basic application code released every day!

    Automatically available

And what’s even more impressive is that all these system updates entail absolutely no extra work for you as a user. You don’t have to run application updates, restart your system or even your computer. And you don’t need to contact technical support when your system doesn’t work correctly after an update.

Instead, an updated version of our system is automatically available in your browser whenever you log on.

    Opportunities from cloud computing

Of course, this ‘Christmas Calendar’ model with daily releases is another example of the many opportunities provided by cloud computing. Unlike traditional software providers, we can make major application changes without worrying about creating issues or extra workloads for our users.

On the contrary, we can give our customers something extra to help them with their accounting – free of charge and readily available.

On our website, you can see the full list of new features delivered in December, updated every day with the latest improvements.

The world’s largest selection of accounting apps

    31 October 2011

Today, I have the honor of introducing the world’s largest selection of accounting apps!

All apps integrate with e-conomic and are part of our strategy to make bookkeeping and accounting easier and more fun for small and medium businesses.

    e-conomic apps

Providing the world’s largest selection of accounting apps

    Streamlining and simplifying processes

For business owners without accounting experience, bookkeeping can be very time-consuming. That’s why we strongly support the development of apps that streamline and simplify these processes.

Using e-conomic apps, you can e.g. report mileage automatically using your mobile phone, automatically record orders and sale of a web shop, or automatically scan and transfer invoices to e-conomic. In the same way, apps are available for helping you collect outstanding payments, book salary and record time and materials spent on projects.

    Connecting systems

In e-conomic, an app is an integration application that works as an intuitive utility to connect e-conomic with other systems such as web shops, CRM systems, payroll systems etc.

As you may know, e-conomic is structured around an open Application Programming Interface (API) enabling other companies to develop and sell apps that integrate with e-conomic. This is part of our basic philosophy that data should be allowed to flow freely between business systems. Our framework is so standardized and easy to use that you can code almost all of your app in our API.

We don’t make money on apps, but the number of apps has increased by 40% in the last year, and they play a significant part in attracting new customers and so help us increase our growth.

    Apps seminar for developers

With so many apps and opportunities provided through our API, we’d like to play a much more active role in helping developers and partners create the best possible apps.

That’s why we’re organizing a Getting started with Apps seminar (select ‘Getting Started with Apps’ as ‘Type’), which will take place November 24  at 18:00 CET. Here, developers will get introduced to our API, our app resources and learn how to create their first app.

We’ve also set up an Apps team dedicated to assisting developers and partners by providing them with feedback on their ideas, helping them promote their apps and pointing them towards resources.

With these new initiatives, I look forward to seeing even more great e-conomic apps developed in the future. Keep an eye on the Apps section of our website to stay up-to-date with the latest apps.

    e-conomic: more international every day

    31 May 2011

e-conomic’s mission statement is ambitious to say the least: to be the worldwide leader in our segment, with the e-conomic accounting system adapted to at least 12 countries in 2012 and more than 100,000 companies using it by the end of 2013.

But in the three years since I joined e-conomic, we have expanded into nine different countries, and are well on our way to surpassing our goals.

    e-conomic Finland

One of the newest e-conomic countries is Finland, where in 2010 we introduced the e-conomic accounting system with full Swedish language capabilities – as there are more than 300,000 native Swedish speakers in Finland.

Now I am happy to share that the full e-conomic accounting application is also available in the Finnish language!

    9 languages, endless possibilities

Finnish is the ninth language that the e-conomic online accounting system has been adapted to, contributing to e-conomic’s ranking position as an internationally accessible and multilingual accounting solution.

No matter where you are in the world, you can choose to work with e-conomic in any one of these nine languages – all the while maintaining the VAT codes and accounting principles of the country in which you do business.

    Welcome - tervetuloa!

I would like to extend a warm tervetuloa to all of our Finnish language users – thank you for joining e-conomic!

Here’s to the next language… whatever it might be ;)

e-conomic accounting app for all smartphones

    20 April 2011

As you may have heard, the e-conomic iPhone app has been a great success – more than 10,000 customers are already benefiting from it!

And, as you can imagine, ever since the release of our iPhone app, there has been a huge demand from our customers with Android phone to create an Android app as well.

Therefore, I am happy to announce that now companies using Android phones can also create customers, create and send invoices, book entries and get a complete overview of their key figures while they’re on the move with our new e-conomic Android app.

    e-conomic for Android

With our new full service accounting app for Android, it is now possible to access your full e-conomic accounts on nearly any smartphone.  You can create and send invoices, book entries and access key figures – all while on your mobile.

The e-conomic app for Android is here with new capabilities

Scan documents with your mobile phone

Additionally, we have a special new feature for our Android customers.  You can access an intelligent scanning module that allows you to take pictures of documents with your mobile phone and send them directly to the e-conomic accounting system.

In principle, this allows you to use your mobile phones to scan all of your documents and save them in the system, which can ease your administrative load considerably.

Furthermore, we have also added more graphics for the Android app, including pie charts showing turnover per customer, which can be used strategically when negotiating new pricing agreements.

    Find out more

The e-conomic Android app is free and available for download in the Android Market.  You can read more about the e-conomic Android app on our website, or view our Android app support articles in our e-copedia.
